Nut and drive pinion lock nut, drive pinion rear inner race puller set, removing and installing drive pinion rear inner cone, removing and installing differential side bearing inner cone. This took like 20 minutes. Should be put back their original places, remove differential case assembly with pry bar, keep the side bearing outer races together with their respective, inner cones — do not mix them up. I do have one question.

Is this something I need to worry about? It would only squirt drops and mostly air after the first 10oz. I think they used some jb weld or something. I will say the local Nissan dealer I went to for fluids told me the rear differential holds 3 quarts. Rear differential oil change for the C200 rear axle. Said they fixed window not true again , had to replace the bushings in the rear were bad , and needed a new rear differential engine brake they said they had to contact someone else about to find out problem not fixed to date took truck in again had it 3 days said was fixed. Anything like that around here? Fill as necessary when you cannot insert a small tool into the fill hole and pull it out with liquid on the tip. I thought I had enough in there but when I put the remaining fluid in the hose back in the bottle along with the little I spilled, I think I was alittle short. Tried to get problem worked out with dealership. So this is a known issue. The dealership refused to confirm this as a torque fracture and refused to entertain any thought that the truck they had sold had malfunctioned. Fill levels for the three boxes vary based on engine size and specific type of differential.

I believe Nissan is aware of the problem but this part failure generates revenue, as the work is costly, and leads to the need for break replacement. The allen socket actually vanished for an hour, my right arm punched the hell out of something and the rest landed on the ground. I'm at 29K in only 16 months. It really didn't look that bad. Finally got it but it was tricky. Took truck home and was doing the same thing.
I just wanted to add my own experience and pictures because everyone loves pictures! The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and did not offer any assistance. To refill, what I did was I took a 1L bottle, got the cone shaped cap from the differential oil bottle I had. Especially the note about getting the fill plug out before the drain plug. I highly recommend lying down some cardboard and getting those blue paper towels from the auto store, they work great. Remove upper fill plug 14mm before you drain the differential oil to make sure you can get it off to refill the diff.
