The crack was first noticed last fall and just gotten worse since then. The dashboard started cracking when vehicle was 4 years old, and has literally fallen apart. It is clearly a manufacturers defect due to thousands of other Yukons experiencing the exact same problems, but the dealer refuses to fix it. I've read other complaints on this exact issue with cracks in the exact location. We all have paid a large amount of money for our vehicles and it is not right for them to not repair the issue.
I have a crack That started in May about an inch long and has grown to several inches. I hope that you can do something to make them replace the dash. I have owned the vehicle for since 2014. And no recall or willing to repair it? Of course they acted like they've never heard of such a thing. This is very disappointing since putting out an outrageous amount of money for these two vehicle to have plastic issues. The cracks are the only cosmetic issue it has, not even a scratch. More concerned with safety than resale value at this point since I have my family in this Suburban all the time. Dash began cracking at front left corner of passenger airbag and has now spread to driver side and is crawling up the instrument cowl sound familiar? I am very interested in pursuing a class action lawsuit. The dashboard did have a few minor cracks; 1 by the passenger airbag and 2 on the driver side hump. I think the whole dash will break apart into pieces causing injuries.
Yes, the cracks are annoying, but I am concerned for the safety of the driver or any passengers in the vehicle due to the structural instability of the dash. It started next to the passenger airbag as a crack and now a whole chunk is missing from that location. This is a safety hazard as I see it. I did not notice the 2 cracks in the dash over instruments cluster and corner of passenger airbag cover I did not realize until recently that this is a very common issue. The dashboard first cracked near the passenger airbag at about 40,000 miles. I live in Kansas and own a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe with about 135,000 miles. Clearly this is a defect and needs to be recalled and fixed for free! Both vehicles have the airbag corner crack and drivers side column crack. Shortly after my vehicle was purchased in 2015 the dashboard literally caved in while driving on a paved street.

Most concerning is the crack next to the airbag panel. This is completely unsafe and a serious hazard but gm refuses to correct the issue even though it has been acknowledged, hence I am filing this complaint. The approximate failure mileage was 165,000. On the passengers side by the air bag and by the cluster. So I had to ask only on the 2007 models? Same or similar issue but with a different company? At 52k miles it cracked above the cluster.
Now there's a crack behind the steering wheel. Over the past two years, 2 more cracks have appeared and 1 of the previous cracks has grown. Warranty will not cover the replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. Claim they have never heard of this problem before even though I told representative that I have found numerous complaints about this online. This is very frustrating for the price of this vehicle.
Due to the failure, the contact was concerned that the air bags might deploy. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. I have a 2012 Avalanche. The vehicle was driven to the dealer, but was not repaired. There are thousands of reports of similar issues among similar years and models.
My truck is parked in a garage most of if not all of the day. Took it to the dealer who said my warranty was not in affect in 2011 and that I would have to pay to replace it. In addition, the dashboard cracked and the plastic near the defroster had crumbled completely. Then I went on youtube and found a video where a guy went around videoing all the 2007 gmc vehicles in his area that had their dashboards cracked in the same area. The Chevrolet dealership that services my vehicle has offered no help or financial assistance. The first replacement happened on my third year of ownership.
