I also have the oil light on no buzzer. But also, I have low pressure sensor going off at idle. Looks like 96 Passat, blue is the 0. A bit of moisture on the circuit board can cause phantom current paths very easily. I would think the first thing the shop would have done was check the sensor's? This has happened in both low and high gears. Not sure if that is by design or.
I have since had a new sensor fitted, and still the buzzer and light come on and off. The generic ones have been reported to sometimes not flow enough and trigger the sensor. Caused by heat shield touching steering gear. As you probably already know the head bolts are single use. No problems at all driving. Even after stopping the car and removing the key, the engine would not stop for some considerable time. When it fails, fuel feeds by gravity bsck into tank and engine starves. . As a side note I had problems with Meistersatz brand grey sensors a few years back. This new Oil Pressure Switch is ideal for your restoration needs at an affordable price. Since then, I've replaced the timing belt, had a tune up, and had the oil changed with synthetic oil. Drove a short trip until engine light turned off. Sadly the engine has to come out to replace the bearing, if that's what the issue ends up being. Also, the left cluster illumination light works and then doesn't for a while and then comes back.

The needle goes hard-over, as far as it can go and just sits there for as long as the engine is on. Hope this helps I'm answering my own question here. Car has been sitting in the drive since then, while I figure out how to attack the problem. The main and rod bearings are brand new. I had no problems until this morning, after I filled my tank with petrol and drove about 800m the light came on the buzzer went off about 10 times.
I don't know what to do, I got a lemon. You could also double-check the part number of the switch you installed. I have done this and been on the web to get some insight. Also, yesterday, I made a 2h30m 200km trip. The last cam journal is very worn and gushing oil. I therefore put my problem into google, and suspected it was the sensor. The light does not stay on.
I also notice some right up on top of the oil filter housing. I believe the blue is low pressure but if you're unsure it has the pressure rating on it, or at least it should. The light will blink sometimes, the buzzer will go off, and off and off. I blocked its oil port and checked the head pressure by turning the oil pump shaft with distributor removed with a drill attachment. I don't know the brand used tho. I just found this site, so I haven't had a chance to run any of your diagnostics yet, but does this sound like a cluster problem? So with that being said, does anyone know off hand which sensor the one on the left passenger side is? Folks with Quantums and Foxes can evidently get to it without pulling the engine, as per the comment below.
