After this, Anna wakes up and realizes she has been buried alive. At the funeral, Paul places the engagement ring he intended to give her the night of the crash on her finger. But in the end she too chickens out from giving life a chance. The film presents fact-based pragmatic arguments for change with an emotionally affecting visual representation to reach the broadest possible audience. Life fails to deliver enough twists or thrills to sustain its creepy atmosphere. Paul panics and begins to head over to the cemetery.

The woman who should be dead speaks, and the mortician calmly responds to her. Just like the famous rabbit-or-duck illusion, every time you sway in one direction, you find details in the plot to sway back in the other. Middle school teacher Anna Taylor attends the funeral of her piano teacher where she meets Eliot. Later, a mannequin wearing a red slip reminds Paul that Anna was wearing that the morning of the accident. While there are some very scary moments and surreal glimpses of the beyond, the tone of the movie is more one of steadily mounting apprehension and dread. Paul begins to think that Anna is alive and tries to confront Eliot, but with no success. One of Anna's students sees her and alerts Paul, who begins to suspect she is still alive. Driving under the influence of alcohol, Paul rushes to the cemetery. So why the long route you ask? It was a powerful idea to me. Eliot offers Anna a last chance. As the funeral nears, Paul gets closer to unlocking the disturbing truth, but it could be too late; Anna may have already begun to cross over the other side. Eliot has arranged this funeral.

Oh, and Jack is in on this kill too. Eliot takes a long pipe and stabs Paul, killing him. Eliot has convinced Jack that he needs to bury the beings that are incapable of living. We need to ponder the lessons of these lives to avoid the waste of recidivism and understand how we can partner with the once-incarcerated and gain their talents and acquired wisdom to contribute to more resilient and peaceful communities that benefit us all. Trapped inside the funeral home, with nobody to turn to except Eliot, Anna is forced to face her deepest fears and accept her own death. Confused, terrified and feeling still very much alive, Anna doesn't believe she's dead, despite the funeral director's reassurances that she is merely in transition to the afterlife. He becomes a fly in the pickling balm when he insists upon clinging to the outrageous assertion that Anna is not really dead. That night Anna argues with her boyfriend Paul at a restaurant. Young couple Paul Justin Long and Anna Christina Ricci are toying with the prospect of marriage when they have a chance encounter with Eliot Liam Neeson , a mysterious undertaker who claims he can speak with the dead.

He offers her to get up and walk out. Eliot is really giving that chance to Anna, but is disappointed because she chooses death. The accident is not shown. The concept behind the story is very cool but the execution is definitely what made the film. .
