Movies like this give Cute a bad name. They work well together and make believable siblings. They succeed with a little Christmas magic from. While All I Want for Christmas is not exactly an overlooked gem--it's not quite charming enough to be considered among the classics--one of its strongest features is its amazing cast. You'll be glad you did. All I Want for Christmas is sweetly old-fashioned but it's also a bit bland and syrupy for my tastes.

Instead, there is a reunion, interrupted by Mom's boring boyfriend, who bursts in nobody ever locks the door in Manhattan , also neglects to ask why two emergency vehicles are flashing outside, and denounces the kids.

Catherine decides to reject Tony and remarry Michael, completing Hallie's wish. Music swells on the sound track, and Ethan and his girlfriend walk out onto the front porch, where neither notices that the emergency vehicles have disappeared. As Christmas approaches, the kids manage to lock their mother's fiancé, Tony Kevin Nealon , in an ice cream truck and have him whisked off to New Jersey, all in an attempt to make their mom believe that she's been stood up. On Christmas morning, everyone assembles at the home in a panic, after the kids have seemingly disappeared.

Hallie and Ethan plot to get their parents back together at Christmas time. I get that it's a family holiday movie but this is a very white, upper-class, sanitized version of Manhattan. Complicating things is a smarmy businessman named Toney Boer, who has taken an interest in Catherine. As you can imagine, a Christmas movie about divorced parents reuniting has all the potential to be a popular, heart-warming fantasy. This movie may not have provided Bacall with a role that made critics' lists of highlights of her career. Ethan, a practical older brother, and adorable Hallie, who knows how to charm her way out of a difficult situation, are intent on spending Christmas with their parents, Catherine and Michael, and grandmother Lillian.

The entire proceeding feels like a Walt Disney film and I mean that in a good way. As Ethan and Hallie embark on their adventure, almost nothing goes exactly as they planned. It's the mark of a real jerk. An elaborate scheme evolves with mice, telephone calls, and an ice cream truck, as Ethan and Hallie try to achieve their goal for helping Stephanie, and see Tony as the primary obstacle. They want a miracle - they want their divorced parents back together. Your enjoyment of it will depend on your tolerance for cheap sentiment and very mild holiday humor.

The kids go into the house but never ask why an ambulance is parked outside, nor does anyone tell them. All I Want for Christmas may never top your list of Best Christmas Movies, however it is an enjoyable story that is made even more entertaining by a stellar cast. So, on Christmas Eve, the kids contrive a scheme that involves trapping Tony in an ice cream truck on its way to New Jersey, so that Mom will think she'd been stood up, while Hallie fakes being sick so Mom will come over to Dad's luxury penthouse studio above the diner and maybe the parents will reconcile. Last but not least in this list of noteworthy cast members is Leslie Nielsen who plays the Macy's department store Santa Claus. Ethan Randall and Thora Birch play siblings who come up with a hilarious plan to reunite their parents Harley Jane Kozak and Jamey Sheridan. Mom is about to marry Tony, a bore we know this because his last name is Boer. Jamey Sheridan played Vice President Walden on the first and second seasons of Homeland.
