I've read scores of books to steal an overused phrase from the author but this book was by far the most difficult to follow. Kestrel is a bit of an outcast and a classic revenge based character. With that being said, the Faithful and the Fallen is definitely a great story with lots of kingdoms. Read at your own peril. Other than working for my basic needs consumption, I literally spent all my time reading this series and it's totally worth it.
My favorite style of writing where each chapter is about a specific person. Allied with the manipulative Queen Rhin of Cambren, there are few who can stand against him. There are also other side characters who also make a comeback in the book. The first two books pulled me along, reading this one is like slogging through mud. Deep under the snow-covered mountains beyond the village, an imprisoned fallen seraph desperately needs her help.
But now giants stir anew, the very stones weep blood and there are sightings of giant wyrms. Without waiting for back-up, Faith enters the house.
