A real slow burner that messes with your mind and sucks you into its cool storyline of the supernatural. What impressed me the most, however, is that there is hardly any blood, no nudity, no profanity, no sex, no gore and it scared the crap out of me! Shawn Graham completely healed from a childhood trauma where his father purportedly tortured and killed his mother before being killed himself by Tim. The story doesn't call for buckets of blood anyways. The acting in the film is top notch in my opinion. Then she tells that they need to destroy an ancient mirror that she has found through working at an auction house. The genius of Oculus isn't the concept haunted mirror but the screenplay of disjointed story telling and flashbacks mixing into a coherent and perhaps a complex story.

Ten years ago, tragedy struck in the Russell family, made Tim and Kaylie's life change forever when Tim was convicted of killing his parents. Years later, a newly free Tim does his best to lay the past to rest. We need more films like this. The ghostly images projected by the mirror are indeed scary and do give you an uneasy feeling for sure. No folks, I'm not jumping on the bandwagon here.
